Seasonal Hydrant Flushing!

Public Works Notice October 21st – October 24th 💧

The Richmond Public Works Department will be performing seasonal hydrant flushing throughout town. This is a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the Village’s water distribution system.

During hydrant flushing, some loss of pressure and discoloration of water may occur. The water may temporarily appear rust-colored because the iron and other mineral deposits in the water mains get stirred up. There is no health hazard associated with discolored water. Water is safe to use and consume during hydrant flushing, however it may stain laundry. Residents are urged to avoid doing any laundry when hydrants are scheduled to be flushed in your area. If water is discolored, wait until flushing has subsided in your area then run a cold water tap until the water runs clear.

Temporary Parking Ban – Country Thunder (Wednesday, July 16th – Monday, July 21st)

For Public Safety and Emergency response, the Richmond Police Department has ordered a temporary ban on street parking for the days concurrent with Country Thunder – July 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.

The subdivisions affected are Pheasant Ridge and Sunset Ridge, and Hillview Subdivision (May Avenue). Parking on the street is prohibited and will be strictly enforced with tickets issued in the amount of $75.00 per vehicle, and/or vehicles towed at the owner’s expense.

Any resident holding a function where additional street parking is necessary, after utilizing driveway parking, must obtain a parking pass, which are available at the Village of Richmond Village Hall or Richmond Police Department (5600 Hunter Drive, Richmond IL 60071) or parking pass can be downloaded here.

Christmas Tree & Holiday Light Recycling 2025

LRS will be picking up Christmas trees:

January 3rd

January 9th

January 16th

January 23rd

January 30th

Trees must be under 6 ft or cut into sections. Trees should be free of any tinsel, lights, plastic, or ornaments.

Done with your broken holiday lights? Drop broken string lights off at Village Hall (5600 Hunter Dr, Richmond IL 60071) in the front vestibule recycling container. Village Hall is open M-F, between 8am and 4pm.
