What is Nixle? Nixle is a FREE notification service that allows the police department and village to alert residents of emergency weather events, road closings, public safety crime advisories, natural and manmade disasters, and general village information. Messages can be received through email, text messaging, and in critical incidents phone message advisories (sometimes called reverse 911).

How Do I Sign Up? NIXLE is free and easy to register for. Go to http://www.nixle.com. Click the “Sign Up Free” button and complete the easy registration. You will need to create an account with a username and password, and enter an email address, cell phone number, and home phone number where you would like to receive the messages.

Already registered? Please ensure that all your contact information is up to date (cell phone number, home phone number, and current email address) and your preferences are current, i.e. how you want to receive updates (text, email, both, etc.) and which types of updates you want (alert, advisory, and community.)

Residents who register will receive alerts for severe weather events, road closings, and other public safety advisories. Future messages will include community advisories if you select that option. Please note that your cell phone provider’s text messaging rates will apply.

If you’ve already signed up, don’t forget to verify and update your contact information, and if you haven’t signed up, please do so ASAP.

You can sign up even if you don’t have a cell phone, but do have an email address and home phone.

If you don’t have a cell phone or an email address, but do have a home phone, please contact the village hall or the police department and we’ll enter your home phone number in so that you’ll receive reverse 911 notifications.
