W.A. MCCONNELL FOUNDATION – MCCONNELL BALL (10308 MAIN ST) – 7PM-10PM

The W.A. McConnell Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the treasured history of the greater Richmond area in Illinois, the legacy of its founders, and the revitalization of its historic downtown for the benefit of generations to come.

A grand evening dedicated to past elegance and civic pride. Enjoy an evening of live music, delicious delicacies, and tantalizing libations. Dance the night away or watch ballgowns and tailcoats swirl around the dance floor. Pose for photographs, bid on exciting silent auction items, and view a never-before-seen collection of paintings by former Richmond resident and famous map artist, Eugene Derdeyn. A paramount way to commence Richmond’s 150th Anniversary Celebration! Cocktail attire required but Vintage dress encouraged.

This event, hosted by the experts at International House of Wine & Cheese, will feature over 40+ samples of specially selected wine that will suit each and every taste. As a bonus (because it’s our birthday) there will be one specialty bourbon station and one tequila station for participants.

Participants will also receive one complimentary bottle of wine of your choice at the end, a wine glass and lanyard and selection of various appetizers at each location.

Check-in will begin at 2:30PM at the event booth in Stevens Park (intersection of Broadway & Main St). Event is rain or shine!

The Richmond Cemetery offers a window into the Village of Richmond’s rich and fascinating history. Follow a docent on a guided tour and take a unique look into the town’s intriguing past. You’ll meet costumed enactors and narrators, and learn about influential and notable people who shaped Richmond, Illinois into what it is today. Rain Date: Sunday, September 18, 2022 (same times).

Tours will meet at the Richmond Grade School parking lot directly across the street from the cemetery, at the corner of Broadway Road and McConnell Drive.

Please note, this is a walking tour. All attendees must be capable of walking over uneven terrain and standing for approximately 1 hour. It is advisable to wear comfortable footwear.
