Press Release Re: OSLAD FY23 Grant Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARCH 6, 2023

The Village of Richmond will be receiving $137,390 in funding from the Department of Natural Resources’ FY2023 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant program. This project was one of 118 local outdoor recreation projects, representing $59 million in funding assistance, approved by the Department for FY 2023 OSLAD grant funding.

“The funding awarded by the Department of Natural Resources through the OSLAD grant will help the Village of Richmond achieve a large public space park improvement that is frequently requested by our residents. The addition of dual purpose pickleball and tennis courts, as well as a bocce ball court, will help bring amenities to our parks that promote outdoor activity for all ages and mobility ranges,” said Village President Toni Wardanian. “We are incredibly grateful for this program; The Village’s small size and lack of a park district means we must continually seek out alternative ways to achieve these improvements that our residents expect. The OSLAD grant program brings these goals within reach.”

The funding will be used to build an outdoor dual-purpose pickeball and tennis courts facility, and bocce ball court, within Cotting Park, a local park maintained by the Village of Richmond. This addition will help promote healthy outdoor activity, team-based cooperative movement, and add another free public recreational feature for all Richmond residents, students, and visitors to enjoy.
